This is an interactive virtual workshop designed to support educators by offering insights into the 8 Dimensions of Wellness and introduce experiential practices to build resilience, reduce stress, and maintain balance both in and out of the classroom.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify and describe the 8 Dimensions of Wellness and their importance for holistic wellbeing in and out of the classroom.
- Practice mindfulness and breathing techniques to manage stress. Perform chair yoga to ease physical tension throughout the day.
- Employ strategies for setting boundaries that support occupational wellness and a healthy work-life balance.
- Use journaling as a tool for intellectual wellness, fostering reflection, mental clarity, and problem-solving applicable to both teaching and daily life.
- Create a calming workspace for environmental wellness.
- Reflect on financial wellness and mindful spending habits to enhance long-term balance and stability.
About the presenter:
Tanya Porter is the founder and Living Arts Director of The Inner Space, teaching meditation and classical yoga to both adults and youth for over 23 years. She is also a multi-disciplinary artist, performer, educator, and holistic wellness practitioner specializing in over 25 years of Theatre, Drum, Dance, and creative wellness programming for all ages. She is the creator of the mindfulness drumming modality Rhythmic Re-framing, bridging her 30 years of drumming experience together with her yoga and meditation practices.
